Vancouver, Canada – November 14, 2018 – Incognito Software Systems Inc., a global provider of device and service management solutions for digital service providers, unveiled a new solution to scale the management of fiber-based IP services. The Incognito Fiber Service Orchestration Solution allows service providers to accelerate the transition from fixed-copper based services to innovative IP services over fiber, scale new service rollout, and deliver a great in-home gigabit experience.
New IP services such as gigabit internet, 4K/8K video, IPTV, and new lines of business, including 5G backhaul and IoT home security, are fast becoming key priorities for service providers who have rolled fiber. However, fiber brings new network infrastructure, including customer premise equipment (CPE) and element management systems (EMS), together with new business process flows that require extensive integration through non-standard protocols to legacy operational support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS). The impact is felt through higher operational costs, longer time-to-market and the challenge of rapidly scaling new service introductions.
“Our research shows that most fixed-service providers view their legacy OSS as a significant barrier in scaling fiber-based services, with respondents citing the migration of customers to fiber services, new CPE discovery, ordering and billing process changes as key challenges,” said Alan Breznick, a senior analyst at Heavy Reading. “With process automation still topping the list of network operations priorities heading into 2019, service providers need turnkey orchestration tools that automate service fulfillment and diagnostics and offer greater efficiency.”
“The future is fiber and the race is on to over-build and get ahead of the competition to deliver the next generation gigabit experience and develop new businesses like IoT, enterprise internet, and 5G backhaul,” said Ragu Masilamany, VP Products, Incognito. “Incognito’s Fiber Service Orchestration solution gives our customers a unique competitive advantage with an accelerated deployment model in weeks, coupled with extensive process automation and the capability to easily integrate and co-exist with legacy OSS and BSS. It’s a win-win for internet service providers who want to monetize fiber faster and deliver a great customer experience.”
A recent survey of fixed service providers conducted in partnership with Heavy Reading highlighted that providers will leverage different OSS strategies to support fiber-based services with more than 40 percent planning to retrofit legacy OSS, while 30 percent are planning to introduce a new OSS stack. The Incognito Fiber Service Orchestration Solution accelerates fiber service management with support for cost-effective fiber OSS retrofit or transformation projects. It offers the following capabilities:
